Achievement/Significance of 1946 Constitution:

  1. Brought together the North and South administratively, promoting national unity
  2. It gave greater participation to Nigerians with majority of non-officials for the first time
  3. It promoted nationalist activities
  4. Divided Nigeria into three regions – North, West and East
  5. Encouraged the membership of Nigerians into the executive council for the first time
  6. The constitution laid the foundation for a full-blown federal structure in 1954
