Christianity brought with it the preaching of the gospel message and worship pattern in Nigeria. Thus, Nigerians were converted.

SOCIALLY:

  1. Christianity took a look at Nigerian language and culture.
  2. The advent of Christianity brought slave trade to an end.
  3. It introduced missionary hospitals in the country.
  4. The killing of twins and human sacrifices were eradicated by Christianity in Nigeria.
  5. In the area of education, Christianity brought early schools which provided formal education to the citizens e.g. St Gregory’s School Lagos and Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha (founded in 1925)

POLITICALLY:

  1. The Christian missionaries gave Nigerians an insight into the divide and rule system of government.
  2. Christianity helped to brighten intellectuals in Nigeria through the knowledge of the ethnic histories in Nigeria.
  3. The advent of Christianity introduced agriculture and legal trades in the country (Nigeria).
