MEANING OF CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

This is the type of education that is geared towards teaching and imparting universally acceptable moral values, skills, attitudes and behaviours to the younger ones, which enable them fit in adequately and responsibly to the society in which they found themselves.

It is also the type of education that teaches students and other citizens how to be responsible and responsive members of their country via active participation, thus, using the knowledge acquired to solve developmental challenges of both local and global concerns.

Citizenship education can also be defined as that type of education that teaches students or the younger ones the basic fundamental human rights, privileges, duties and obligations which equip them to be good citizens of their country.
