THE FRENCH POLICY OF ASSOCIATION: Is a system in which the French tried to recognize, respect and preserve the racial identity, religion, traditions cultural institutions, customs and ways of life of the colonies under them. It is a French policy that tends to recognize African tradition and the effective utilization of the traditional institutions to administer the colonies. Under this policy of association, the West African colonies were granted freedom in the running of their local affairs.
