Regional Geography of Africa

Location:

The continent of Africa lies between latitudes 37°N and 35°S of the equator and 1 7°W and 51 °E of the Green wish Meridian.

It is the Second Largest continent in the world after Asia Position: Africa is bounded in the north by the Mediterranean Sea, in the South by the Atlantic Ocean, in the east by the Indian Ocean and on the northeast by the Suez Canal, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Note: The Mediterranean Sea separates Africa from Europe while the Gulf of Aden separates Africa from Asia.

As the Second largest continent in the world, Africa occupies a land area of about 30 Million Square Kilometre5 Africa’s Population is estimated at about 600 Million, which is about 10% of the world Population.
