The retailer is regarded as the last link in the chain of distribution and he buys in fairly large quantity and resells to the consumers in small quantities.

TYPES OF RETAILING

Hawking, supermarkets, peddlers, village stores, market traders and co-operative to mention but a few.

FUNCTIONS OF THE RETAILER

  1. Buys in small quantity from the wholesaler and sells to the consumers.
  2. Passes information from the consumers to the wholesalers who then carry the information to the manufacturers.
  3.  Grants credit purchases to the consumers.
  4. Creates employment opportunities to the unemployed.
