SPECIALIZED AGENCIES OF THE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION:

The specialized agencies of UNO are independent bodies established to help actualize the main objectives of the UNO. These agencies are co-coordinated by the ECOSOC and they are:

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO)

INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION (ILO)

FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATION (FAO)

INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (IMF)

UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN EMERGENCY FUND (UNICEF)

INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT (IBRD)

Other specialized agencies of UNO are:

  • International Refugee Organization (IRO)
  • International Finance Corporation (IFC)
  • International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
  • Universal Postal Union (UPU)
  • World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
  • International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
