KANO RIOT OF 1953 – CAUSES

  1. Motion for sell-government in 1956 moved by Chief Anthony Enahoro.
  2. The counter motion by Northern People’s Congress (NOC) leader, Sir Ahmadu Bello, which resulted to embarrassment meted on them by the enraged Lagos crowd. 
  3. The S. L. Akintola led tour to the North while they (Northerners) were still nursing the anger against the southerners over the insults received in Lagos.
