Ethnic Associations

As the name implies, ethnic associations are unions formed by members of various ethnic nationalities in Nigeria Nigeria is a heterogeneous society made up of 250 ethnic groups and each ethnic group forms associations to help fight for the rights of their region and protect the interest of their people.

Examples of ethnic associations in Nigeria are:

1. Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

2. Niger Delta Volunteer Force (NDVF).

3. Movement for the Survival of Ogoni people.

4. Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

5. Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

6. Ohaneze Ndi Igbo.

7. Odua People’s Congress (OPC).

8. Afenifere Group.

9. Northern Elders Forum.
