TYPES OF CITIZENSHIP

(a) By birth  (b) By registration  (c) By naturalization

(d) By descent  (e) By honorary conferment.

CITIZENSHIP BY BIRTH: This is a situation where an individual is born in a country by parents who are citizens of that country.

CITIZENSHIP BY REGISTRATION: This is the type of citizenship obtained by registering the birth of a child with the appropriate authority where the child is born and where the parent resides.

CITIZENSHIP BY NATURALIZATION: This is the type of citizenship mainly acquired by foreigners who may voluntarily opt out membership of one state into the membership of another state if they so desire and are able to satisfy certain conditions prescribed by that state.

CITIZENSHIP BY DESCENT: This is the type of citizenship in which a person is able to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that his grandparents were citizens of that country. By this prove, the person in question becomes a citizen of that country.

CITIZENSHIP BY HONORARY CONFERMENT: This is the type of citizenship conferred to an alien by another country probably because the recipient has distinguished himself! herself in a manner commendable to the awarding country.
