  • Shehu Umar died and was succeeded by a weak Shehu.
  • The Central government of Borno was very and that attracted external attack to it.
  • Borno was financially backward.
  • Rabah, a military warlord from Sudan gave Borno the last blow in 1893.
  • Wadai rose to power and that weakened the power of Borno.
