What is Drug?

A drug can simply be defined as a substance that usually has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body of a living organism. More richly, a drug is a natural or synthetic substance, which when taken into a living body affects its functioning or structure and is used in the diagnosis, mitigation, treatment or prevention of diseases or relief of body discomfort.

What is Drug Abuse?

Drug abuse is the habitual taking of drugs without a doctor’s prescription or advice. It can also mean the illegal or indiscriminate use of drugs through self-medication which deviates from the approved medical administrative standard. Drug abuse can also be defined as the taking of drugs that are legally prohibited.
