The Population of Nigeria

Nigeria as a nation came into being in 1914 when Sir Fredrick Lord Lugard amalgamated the Southern and Northern protectorate. Going by the census count of 2006, Nigeria’s population is estimated to be about 140 million people.

It is seen as the most densely and/or populous nation in Africa with abound human and natural resources no wonder it is called the giant of Africa.

The census count of 2006 shows that Kano has the largest population figure followed by Lagos state. Though, experts (demographers) and other stakeholders repudiated the result of the head count, as they argue that Kano can never be bigger than Lagos.
