Principles of metal extraction

High reactive metals like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and aluminum are obtained from their combined states.

Through electrolysis in their molten form at very high temperatures.

NB: The above-mentioned metals cannot be obtained by reduction since they cannot be reduced by any reducing agent.

However, moderate relative ones like iron, zinc, tin, lead etc are obtained by reduction of the oxides by coke or any other powerful reduction agent.
