INDIRECT RULE

INDIRECT RULE was initiated by Sir Frederick Lord Lugard in 1900. An indirect rule can be defined as a system of government whereby the British administered her territories through the utilization of native chiefs and traditional authorities to govern, while the British officials were to advise, guide and where necessary enforce colonial policies.
